Conversion programs are designed for individuals already specialised in a psychotherapeutic modality, other than integrative psychotherapy, who wish to also specialize in integrative psychotherapy.

The application process

    Applications for accreditation of conversion programs are considered only from Training Organisations that are full members of the EAIP and comply with the criteria below for conversion programs. 

    Conditions for the accreditation of conversion programs

      Conversion programs are training programs in integrative psychotherapy which have a shorter duration in comparison to a full training in integrative psychotherapy, being designed for individuals who are already trained in another therapeutic modality.

      Candidates to the conversion program shall normally have qualifications equivalent to an ECP (minimum 4 years specific training in psychotherapy). It is the training institute’s responsibility to ensure that this is the case.

      An accredited conversion program in integrative psychotherapy shall fulfil the following conditions:

      – the minimum training period for the conversion program must be of at least 2 years and it will consist of:

                  – at least 300 hours of theory and methodology, which must include the following: 1. Common factors in psychotherapy; 2. Psychotherapy based on therapeutic relationship; 3. Human development – an integrative perspective; 4. Specific models of integration; 5. Case conceptualization in an integrative manner; 6. An understanding of integrative psychotherapy and different psychotherapeutic approaches; 7. An integrative theory of change; 8. An integrative theory on psychopathology; 9. Integrative assessment and intervention; 10. Practical training; 11. Ethics and research; 

                  – at least 60 hours of personal development / personal therapy congruent with the training, group therapy and/ or individual sessions;

                  – at least 60 hours of supervision, spread over the two years of training, group and/or individual supervision, in person or online;

                  – at least 200 hours of clinical practice with clients;

      – in the final assessment of the trainees the organisation must have an external examiner;

      – the final assessment must include / certification criteria: a practical and theoretical examination (written, oral, or both)

      – the membership committee will appoint or invite two members of the membership committee to conduct an assessment and make a written report to the executive committee;

      – the applicant organisation is required to supply the assessors with copies of all its literature, training brochures, details of the extent and breadth of the training modules, recommended reading lists, details of who is teaching what, samples of its written training material, requirements for completion of training, and details of its accreditation requirements and procedures.

      Accreditation procedure

        Application and documentation are sent by the applicant to the administrative secretary, Andra Rampu, email andra@euroaip.eu Necessary documents:

        • Application form;
        • Detailed training curricula for the conversion program;
        • Description of selection criteria;
        • Description of assessment procedures and marking criteria;
        • Description of assessment appeals procedure;
        • Staff/trainers names, relevant qualifications and relevant professional memberships;
        • Any other documentation relevant for the organization.
